Uncovering Typhoon Haiyan

I wrote this quote on my Facebook (which I barely open nowadays) two years ago:

One thing about people is that they tend to keep what they really feel while they’re still alive, so when their time is over, those feelings were left unexpressed, and the chance for closure becomes zero.

The Perfume

Tomorrow is the 80th birthday of Lolo Melchor, Gemma’s grandfather. The whole family planned  to have a big party for him. They ordered 6 gallons of ice cream, a two-layered cake, and other desserts which will be delivered the next day. The venue was set and decorated with colorful balloons and a banner that wrote: Happy Birthday Lolo Melchor.  Continue reading “The Perfume”

Things I do when I don’t write

There was once a time when I would write many beautiful things about life just by staring at the evening sky, the moon, and the dancing stars. With every word, every sentence, I can feel the moon’s energy flowing through me, inspiring me to write. Yes, the moon is my muse. Continue reading “Things I do when I don’t write”

Coffee and Tea

If we were having coffee right now, it would be in a park with a blanket and a picnic basket.
Cobbie would be joining us (he loves picnics!), and he would drink his favorite tea mixed with honey, exactly 1 tablespoon of honey and a half teaspoon of sugar. He is really particular with measurements. I guess he copied that from me every time he helps me with cooking. Continue reading “Coffee and Tea”

A letter to the man I’m going to marry

Dear Mr. K,

I still remember the first time you kissed me, it was amazing!
It’s like we’re glued together by some magical energy.
There’s no escape.
No turning back.
I was afraid then, but my heart whispered to me:
Fall in Love. Never return!
And I did.
I never regret the moment that I did.

Time seems to move so fast every time we’re together.
I wish it would slow down.
I want to savor the moment,
feel every second that I am holding your hand,
smelling your scent,
feeling your warmth,
and kissing your lips.

I never thought that after all these years, your kisses can still cause a butterfly riot in my stomach.
I know I’m in love because you’re the reason I am staring into the vast universe sometimes, daydreaming about our future.

All these years
you’ve been there for me.
When I’m in a bad mood.
When I’m pissed off.
When I’m jealous.
When I’m cranky.
When I’m being clumsy, you loved me.
You always loved me.

You loved me even if I turn into a monster at some point,
but instead of running away,
you stayed and calmed that monster in me.

You defended me from people who tried to hurt me.
You prepared food for me to make sure that I won’t skip a meal.
You made sure to check that there’s no boogeyman under our bed before we sleep.
And even as we sleep, you still protect me from all the bad dreams by wrapping your arms around me.

Thank you for accepting me as I am.
You always make me feel that if I’m happy, you’re happy too.

Thank you for making me feel that I am the most beautiful woman in the world even if I just woke up.

Thank you for always prioritizing me above all else.
I really appreciate it.

Thank you for the loyalty that you’ve shown me all these years.
You made me believe that in this messed up world, somehow, there is actually true love.

I am really happy to have found
a best friend
a partner
and a soulmate
in one person.

I am excited for the moment that we will share
our vows together in front of the people we love,
and I can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives as husband and wife.

With love,
Your soon-to-be Mrs. K

A new day

“Everyday God gives us a moment in which it is possible to change everything that makes us unhappy.”

-Paulo Coelho

Mornings are like gifts
A new opportunity,
Unwrapped as we wake

A chance to transform
Into a better person
That we always dreamed

To change our view of
the world through a positive
state of acceptance

Become different
From a miserable you
Get rid of the past

Forget the nightmare
From yesterday’s adventure
Now, is a new day
